The Cyberster takes MG’s heritage into the future.

The MG brand is home to a storied history. With a legacy spanning over a century, MG, as well as its cars, have continuously evolved over the years. Evolution, however, doesn’t mean letting go of your roots.

MG, back when it was a fully British-owned brand, made some iconic roadsters like the MG MGA, the MGB, and, arguably, the sports car that started it all for MG, the MG 14/28. Now, in the present, the modern MG brand pays homage to that history with the Cyberster, a roadster that showcases MG’s reverence for its legacy and its outlook for the future.

Taking the classic roadster into the future

Design-wise, the Cyberster may look like a convertible sports car of today, but major design choices appear to mimic the designs of MG’s roadsters from the past. Take, for example, the long-sweeping hood, reminiscent of the MGB, evoking the feeling of fun open-top road racers MG used to make. The short “kamm tail” rear end is also a callback to the MGB, as well as the flat bumper with sharp LED taillights that reference the Union Jack.

Going back to the front end, the Cyberster features what MG calls “Storm Eye” LED headlights and a sleek front fascia. At the sides, the Cyberster displays clean and simple body lines, complemented by huge 20-inch alloy wheels. It’s designed to turn heads when on the move, but it will also feel at home parked on the high streets of the metro. Plus, if the exterior hasn’t slowed people down to take a peek yet, the scissor doors surely will.

A fiery car with an electric soul

Under its dramatic roadster skin, the MG Cyberster is engineered to deliver performance that matches its futuristic design. Built on a dedicated electric vehicle platform and delivering power to all four wheels via two electric motors, the Cyberster stays true to the classic sports car formula while embracing modern EV technology. The two electric motors produce a total of 536 hp and 725 Nm of torque. From a standstill, it can sprint to 100 km/h in around 3.2 seconds, meaning that while it’s a fancy roadster from the outside, the electric heart gives it more than enough grunt to outmuscle most of the competition.

Powering the motor is a sizable 77 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, designed not just for bursts of speed but also for usable everyday range. Under ideal conditions, the Cyberster can travel up to 443 km on a single charge, making it as capable of longer weekend drives as it is of spirited runs. Beneath the bodywork, the chassis is tuned for balance and control, with independent suspension at both ends. MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link setup at the rear help keep the car planted and composed, particularly at higher speeds. Stopping power comes from ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels, complemented by an electric parking brake and regenerative braking that recovers energy during deceleration, subtly blending performance with efficiency in true modern MG fashion.

A plush interior

According to MG, they decided to blend high-tech visuals with genuine comfort for the Cyberster, and a look at the interior confirms that. A wraparound dashboard places multiple digital displays directly in the driver’s line of sight. Supportive, well-bolstered seats upholstered in supple leather get you in the mood for long drives or track days, with power adjustment adding everyday convenience. Ambient lighting, soft-touch surfaces, and metallic accents give the Cyberster a sense of occasion when you enter and blend with the sporty styling of the interior. Oh, and don’t forget, putting the top down gives you a view of the blue open sky, letting you enjoy the classic roadster experience without the classic drawbacks.

Smart inside and out

The Cyberster doesn’t just look sleek; it's got a full arsenal of tech features for convenience and comfort. Inside, a multi-screen digital cockpit dominates the cabin, combining a wide instrument display with dedicated screens for infotainment and vehicle functions, all angled toward the driver. Smartphone integration, intelligent voice control, and connected car functions allow drivers to access apps, calls, and real-time information without taking their hands off the wheel for long. It’s immersive, modern, and intentionally theatrical—very much in line with the Cyberster’s bold character.

Comfort hasn’t been overlooked either. Electrically adjustable seats and dual-zone climate control get you acclimated to the Cyberster easier. Meanwhile, keyless entry, push-button start, and powered convenience features make everyday use effortless. The result is a sports car that doesn’t just thrill in a straight line—it pampers and simplifies the experience every time you get behind the wheel.

Safety in every corner

Last but not least, the topic of safety. Roadsters and convertibles have a reputation for prioritizing speed and fun over safety, but that isn’t the case with the Cyberster. The Cyberster’s safety suite is as packed as its tech package, combining passive safety features, active systems, and advanced driver-assistance technology. Structurally, the car benefits from a high-strength frame and multiple airbags, including front, side, and curtain airbags, along with reinforced impact beams that help absorb collision forces and protect passengers.

On the active safety front, the Cyberster features Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), offering adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot detection, and rear cross-traffic alert to help prevent accidents before they occur. It also includes forward collision warning, tyre pressure monitoring, and driver monitoring systems that watch for fatigue or inattention.

Complementing these are tech such as anti-lock braking (ABS), electronic stability control, traction control, and hill-start assist, which help maintain vehicle control in varied driving conditions. Lastly, but not limited to, a 360-degree camera is also included to help with tight parking spaces. Overall, the MG Cyberster’s technology suite lets you enjoy the performance while keeping you out of danger, stepping in when needed, and keeping watch over situations like a trusty butler.
